Getting Older & Getting into the Workforce

The experience of a 9-5 job.

Last week, we had the pleasure of having Ivy in our office for her work experience, here’s what she had to say:

I do have an after school job but it’s a pretty relaxed job where I don’t have to be there on a set time or have a uniform policy, so I can say it was a big change. I have hardly worn a formal outfit before besides a wedding or something that only occurs once a year, like a special occasion.

As soon as I arrived at Castrikum Adams Legal, I was welcomed and it felt like I would be supported as I had no clue what to do or expect. I had set tasks for me to complete over the course of 4 days. I didn’t really see myself as a lawyer but after learning about it all and helping out with filing, scanning file notes, reviewing dates, uploading files and post office runs; I would definitely think about it towards the future.

As a 15 year old I had next to no clue what happens in a law firm and what actions took place. My mother is a lawyer but to be honest until now, I thought lawyers just defend people in court and then call it a day. I have obviously figured out that was not the case, and I can now say I know a lot more about lawyers and paralegals, and what they do.

The team is very wonderful, and they helped guide me through the difficult tasks I was set. They helped me make and receive phone calls, and they took time out of their busy and scheduled days to help me if I got lost with anything.

I am so glad I got to experience this opportunity because I know it takes a lot of hard work to achieve a job in law. I would highly recommend Castrikum Adams Legal, not only are they all a delight to work with, but it was just overall a great experience.
